Seth's Namaqualand

I met Seth at the age of 12, he came to our house and stayed with us thanks to a mutual love we all shared for nature. So my family and I showed him Ecuador, but there was so much to see that he came back a couple of years later for 6 months.

We showed him the beauty of the country I grew up in. Six years after I met him we had the chance to go and spend time with him in his “natural habitat,” his favorite place; Namaqualand. This place creates a bond between him and nature, and without that interest, I would never have met him in the first place.

He has been studying his master’s degree in this area for years, and being there with him gave us the challenge of looking for different perspectives in what were alien landscapes to me.

These images are the result of a friendship that took years in the making, and remained strong thanks to nature, resulting in the candid moments that represent Seth’s connection to nature in this rough land of flowers.

In Namaqualand and the Karoo, flowers become part of everything, from the wilder areas to everyday life.

After a couple of days traveling to different spots to find new flowers, we got to the ‘big deal’ the huge plains filled with flowers and towns where these same flowers live in harmony with everyone.
